SHORT GAME DESCRIPTION
Get ready to roll with Solve & Roll! Your goal? Guide a little green ball to a shiny gold star using shapes to solve one-of-a-kind physics-based challenges, from building bridges and towers to creating ramps, loops, slides, catapults, and more!
LONG GAME DESCRIPTION
Solve & Roll is a 2-D minimalist puzzle game in which players must use a variety of shapes to create bridges, towers, ramps, loops, slides, catapults, and more, in an effort to guide a little green ball to a shiny gold star.
Each puzzle in Solve & Roll presents a number of shapes which are used by the player to influence the direction of the green ball. Players interact directly with the shapes, they can drag, rotate, and place them freely anywhere they like on screen. In order to complete a puzzle, players must place all of the shapes correctly before dropping the green ball from its starting location.
Although the ultimate goal in every level is to get the ball to the star, each level presents a unique physics-based challenge, requiring players to use different strategies to solve them. Players must carefully consider factors such as weight, speed, distance, drop height, balance, and timing to find solutions. As players progress to later levels, they encounter pink shapes that accelerate the ball upon contact, and add an extra layer of complexity.
The game features levels that range from delightfully easy to satisfyingly difficult. If one puzzle proves too challenging, players can reveal the correct placement of any shape individually, without revealing the entire solution. If players choose not to use hints, they have the option to skip a level and revisit it later. Alternatively, players can unlock all levels in the game, giving them the freedom to play in a non-linear fashion and choose which levels they want to tackle.

ABOUT THE DEVELOPERS
We're twins and best buds, Alex & James Cockcroft, and we're independent game developers from the UK on a quest to create successful games that delight our audience. We combine our innate ability to read each other's minds and our insatiable desire to strive for perfection to create games you remember for all the right reasons.
We have always enjoyed creating and expressing our artistic side. As children, we would build Lego together, or draw characters from the comic books we loved. Over the last twelve years, our shared love of video games has grown into a passionate dedication to game design. Neither of us has a formal education in the field of game development; we are both self-taught. Our focus is to create games that charm you with attractive, distinctive design, and delight and captivate your inner child with fun and engaging gameplay.
HOW WE GOT TO SOLVE & ROLL
Alex & James Cockcroft graduated in 2009 with degrees in business, economics, and IT. They began their professional journey in the retail industry, which lasted twelve years, but their interest in game design soon led them to pursue their passion. In their spare time, they taught themselves the necessary skills to create a mobile game. Motivated by their passion for creating something truly exceptional, they devoted countless hours to perfecting their craft and refining their skills.
Over the course of six years, they worked tirelessly on various projects, refining their ideas until they finally struck gold with a puzzle game called Solve & Roll. After spending six years honing their skills, Alex & James Cockcroft dedicated five more long years to perfecting their creation, Solve & Roll, which was ultimately released as their first official title in 2023.
WHAT INSPIRED US TO GET INTO GAME DEVELOPMENT?
In 2009, we graduated from college at the age of 18 with a degree in business, economics, and IT, and landed our first jobs in retail. As we turned 19 on Christmas Eve that same year, we were pleasantly surprised to receive an iPod touch as a birthday gift from our parents. We were fascinated by the touch-screen technology and spent hours playing popular games available at the time.
Soon, we decided to create our own mobile game. We had no experience in game design and were just a two-man team, but we were full of youthful optimism. It took us a while, but we found inspiration in a story of a young prodigy who taught himself how to create his own game. His game became an instant hit on the App Store. This success story inspired us and, with the encouragement of our parents, gave us the confidence to pursue our own goals. And that's how we accidentally stumbled into the world of game development. Who knew an iPod touch could change our lives like that?
Now, in 2023 at the age of 31, we can proudly say that after a 12-year journey filled with hard work, dedication, and perseverance, we finally created our very own mobile game, Solve & Roll.
